Assumptions

2 Literature Lessons - 3 hrs/week
16*2 - 32 Lessons/ Semester

Student Profile: Secondary 3 Special /Express students, studying a major in English Literature. Student is intrinsically motivated and highly independent in study. Needs more than the average curriculum to challenge themselves and stimulate higher order thinking skills.

Part A

Midsummer's Night Dream

Rationale for the use of ICT tool: Blog

An instrumental took to facilitate self-study and online platform for sparking off discussion through reflection. We want to break away from the usual student-teacher feedback channel which can be singular and private. Hope that through ICT, in-class communication would be more open and free for discussion.

Teacher's role in ICT:

1. Set HOTS trigger question
2. Moderate comments online
3. (Randomly choose a student's blog to look at) Facilitate discussions based on student's opinions in the following lesson

Student's role in ICT:

0. Do ICT activity
1. Share ideas and opinions in relation to the trigger question online
2. Provide links to external resources and other readings (if any)
3. Comment on peers' articles in relation to the trigger question online
4. Participate in feedback session in the following lesson


Part B

This lesson takes place between Weeks 6-11. Group Project is a 5 week session dedicated to develop characters through careful analysis and reference to text. To show understanding, students will have to deliver a short monologue(role play) in the character of their choice by the end of this session.

Teacher's role in ICT:

1. Conduct lessons according to MOE curriculum
2. Set a scope for student's to work with
3. (Randomly choose a group blog to look at) Facilitate discussions based on student's work in the following lesson

Student's role in ICT:

Week 1 and 2
1. Participate in group blog using identities of the characters in MSND
2. Contribute consistently through feedback and sharing of ideas
3. Present ideas through text, visuals, video

Week 3 onwards
4. Be ready to present group blog progess
